Book Description:

He’s won the hearts of millions. But is he willing to lose his?

I met the president’s son when we were both young. Matthew Hamilton was handsome, polished, and intelligent. I’d never met a guy like him.

He promised me that he’d never run for president. I promised that if he did, I’d be by his side.

Three terms later, an invitation to join Matthew Hamilton’s campaign is the most exhilarating opportunity I’ve ever experienced. I’m determined to make a difference; he is determined to win.

Focused on his goal, Matt is steadfast, ruthless, and disarming. All eyes are on him and his popularity is surging. But soon, the next possible president of the United States is possessing me in more ways than one—and despite the risks, I’m helpless to resist.

We’re stealing touches, stealing moments, and stealing away at night. But our chemical connection is quickly becoming dangerously combustive, putting not only my heart, but Matt’s chance at the presidency on the line.

Winning will take everything. Walking away will be the hardest thing of all.

Can I be real a second, for just a millisecond? Its an election year here in the U.S., and its has been just awful. I LOVE voting, I love dissecting debates, and reading rhetoric; but this year it has all been a tough pill to swallow. Mr. President was exactly what I needed to make me feel warm and fuzzy about the road to the White House again. Thank you Katy Evans and thank you Mr. Hamilton. We love Katy Evans here (looking at you with all the licking Remy), and we had a strong inkling this book was going to be fire.

Mr. President is the story of Matthew Hamilton — son of a beloved former president, star of a million sexual fantasies, and bearer of my favorite surname — and Charlotte, a senator’s daughter who has had a crush on him since she was eleven. Matt grew up in the White House, he watched the toll the presidency took on his parent’s marriage, he watched how it consumed his father. He never wanted that for himself, he wanted to have a real life, outside of the unrelenting spotlight that comes with being in high level politics. History has its eyes on him, and he has never been thrilled about it.

Catnip:  Brother’s Best Friend, Secret Lovers, Your First and Your Last, Novella, Dual Narrative, Dirty Talk, Virgin, Teach Me Tonight

Shame Scale: Low shame, the guy on the cover is fully dressed!

Fantasy Cast:  Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester

Book Description:

Over my dead body.

That’s what I told Gracie when she informed me of her plan to pick some random guy she met online to get rid of her pesky virginity.

If anyone is touching her, it’s going to be me.

I shouldn’t even be considering it, but I can’t get it out of my head: her, under me, begging me.

Arrogant. Cocky. Prick.

Those are the words I’d use to describe my older brother’s dangerously handsome best friend.

When he learned of my plan to kick off my white cotton briefs, ditching my good girl persona once and for all by losing my virginity to the first eligible bachelor I could find, he flipped out. Said over his dead body.

He says if anyone’s going to do it, it’s going to be him.

I hate that I’m even considering his offer.

But I am … I sooo am.

Ever since he suggested it, all I can think about is his cocky smile on those full lips as he’s driving in to me.

But if we cross that line … will I ever be able to go back?

MONSTER PRICK, a sexy romantic comedy, is a spin off novella from SCREWED, but can be read as a standalone, as it features a new couple.

We read Kendall Ryan’s last release Screwed, which introduced the main characters in Monster Prick, Grace and Hudson.  And there was no way I wasn’t reading a book entitled Monster Prick, well played Ms. Ryan, well played. This is a novella length story, which can easily be read in one sitting. It’s a fluffy palate cleanser with some good sex scenes sprinkled throughout.

Breaking Away, by Toni Aleo

Grade: B

Doing it at: 21%

Catnip: Hockey Players; Beards; Tattoos; Dancers; Secret Lovers; Shower Sex; Strong Female Lead; Dual Narrative

Shame Scale: Low Shame, but since I’ve come out of the romance closet I’m experiencing less book shame in general

Fantasy Cast:  Brooks Laich*; Ginnifer Goodwin

Book Description:

To Nashville Assassins’ leading scoring center Phillip Anderson, playing hockey has always been easy… as natural as breathing. His life is no different. That’s until his world is turned upside down by the death of his sister. While mourning his loss, Phillip has to find a way to make his very angry sixteen-year-old niece, Claire, happy. Now, as her guardian, he discovers the only thing that seems to heal her lonely heart is dance class. But what he didn’t count on was the attraction he’d feel towards her drop-dead sexy dance teacher.

For Reese Allen, dancing has always been part of her soul. After having her heart broken in New York, she comes home with the determination to make her dance studio one of the best in Tennessee and succeeds. When she sees Claire dance for the first time, she knows the girl is bound for greatness and takes the troubled teen under her wing. Using dance as therapy, she suddenly finds herself bound to the young woman… and her hot-as-sin uncle.

However, Phillip and Reese are happy in their single lives. It’s simple. They do what they want, who they want, and how they want, but from the moment they meet, the attraction is undeniable. Soon, they are more than willing to spend just one night tangled in the sheets. But, one night turns into two, and two turns into three, until they find themselves in a repeated dance of “One Last Time” that has the potential to be something more… if only Reese and Claire allow it.

Can Phillip find a way to thaw the hearts of both the women in his life, or will he be forever trying to break them away from their pasts?

Breaking Away is my second Toni Aleo read, its the fifth book in her Assassin’s Series, which I am (of course) gleefully reading out of order. And you know what I’m really liking about her book boyfriends? These boys are all in, the hedging and mixed feelings are coming from our heroines. It’s a genuine delight to read about guys who aren’t scared of their feelings.

Beautiful Bastard, by Christina Lauren

Grade: A

Doing it at: 5%

Catnip: Hate to Love You, Secret Lovers, Boardroom Sex; Elevator Sex, Dual Narrative, Ass Biting, Hate Fucking, Panty Ripping

Shame Scale: The steam factor in this one is high, low shame for how much you wouldn’t want someone reading this over your shoulder on the bus.

Fantasy Cast: Daniel Gillies; Emmy Rossum

Book Description:

An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling.
Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate–and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative–completely infuriating–creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules–or outright smash them–if it means he can have her. All over the office.
As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other.

Beautiful Bastard is book one in the Beautiful Series. As usual I have gone into this series backwards and read book four in the series first, AND all of the inter-connected Wild Seasons books. Essentially Mary and I will read anything that the writing duo of Christina Lauren churns out, their heroines are smart, strong ladies, their heroes are of the highest order of hot, and there’s enough sass and sex to please any romance fan.

Chloe Mills has worked at the Ryan family’s marketing empire for years, she’s a rising star and tight with the family, when the prodigal son returns from years spent in France and ends up as Chloe’s new boss. Bennett is hot, like tall, built, and broody hot; but unfortunately he seems to hate Chloe. He’s extremely critical, works her to the bone, and it isn’t long till she hates him too. They can barely manage to be polite and when they look at each other it’s all:

I was really expecting this to be a slow burn, a gradual thawing where the protagonists eventually learn that they have a lot in common and fall in love. Delightfully that is not what happens in Beautiful Bastard. Instead we get Bennett unable to keep his hands off of Chloe in the boardroom late one night, 5% into the book and he’s angrily taking her up against a window. And It. Is. Hot. Bennett literally rips Chloe’s panties off and they’re still sparring even as he’s inside her.

Catnip: Vacation Hook Up; Dual Narrative; Beards; Ginger Men; No Shame in Her Game; Secret Lovers; Best Friend’s Boyfriend’s Best Friend; Desk Sex

Shame Scale: The cover makes it pretty obvious what we are reading, BUT it’s ab free! The book has an actual story line, some really good dialog, and a heroine who doesn’t let people shame her. In honor of Georgia I say only the teensiest shame level for this doin’ it book

Fantasy Cast: Sam Heughan and Kate Upton

Book Description:

Georgia Trenton has always been lucky in lust but hasn’t ever been interested in love. She prefers quickies to courtships, never seeing the need for more than just sex.

Years of listening to her best friend Danielle’s relationship woes had assured her she was right to avoid romance altogether. But ever since Dani returned from vacation in love and looking like the poster girl for happily ever after with her new boyfriend Evan Weston, Georgia has been questioning her wild ways and thinking about the future.

In an attempt to forget about the uncertainties that plague her and escape the constant symphony of sex noises coming through the walls of her apartment thanks to Evan and Danielle, Georgia jets off to Desire Resort & Spa hoping to enjoy the rowdy vacation hotspot the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

No strings attached. No commitments. And with one sexy stranger…no names.

But when strings appear, complicating what was supposed to be a carefree getaway, and commitment suddenly doesn’t sound as bad as it used to, Georgia finds herself wondering if lust is really enough.

We got this book as an ARC (advanced reader copy), it is scheduled for release on 05/18/2015, and the author sent it to little old us for pre-release review. This is super exciting for a fledgling blog, and I was worried that I wouldn’t like it and have to piss off the author. Luckily, I really like Peachy Keen. Specifically I really really like Georgia and Harrison.

Peachy Keen opens with Georgia taking a solo vacation to Desire Resort, which is the setting of 2.5 other books in Kate Roth’s Desire Resort series, and is basically a sex resort. Yes, shame readers, Georgia is taking the vacation of which we all dream. Her best friend, Danielle, went to the resort, met a celebrity, and improbably fell in love. Georgia isn’t looking for love, but she is looking for some fun anonymous sex, a break from listening to her friend have hot sex and swoon over her boyfriend, and a vacation from a job she hates.

Her first night at Desire, Georgia heads down to the bar to troll for action and finds a bearded, gingery, giant reading ‘The Great Gatsby’ and drinking beer on his own. This is basically cat nip city for me, I believe I audibly sighed “oh, yes please.” Georgia does too. She sits down to flirt, to size him up, and to eventually slide her room key across the table to him to let him know she’s down for a little of what the resort is famous for. Her nameless man is down for it as well, countering with his own room key and “I’ll bet mine’s bigger.” Georgia is worried he might need some direction and need her to be the aggressor during this encounter, until they reach his room:

He jammed the key in the box and opened the door in the same lightening quick motion that he picked me up and threw me over his shoulder. A laugh burst out of me at the caveman move and I kicked my heels off. I heard the clicking of the door as it shut as he sent me freefalling onto the plush mattress. The man didn’t need any direction.

Georgia and her mystery man have hot sex, that’s verging a little bit towards too intimate for commitment-phobe Georgia, but she’s feeling very into him and down to stay the night in his room so they can go for round two when they realize they kind of know each other. Hot, ginger, bearded giant stranger is her best friend’s boyfriend’s best friend (did you follow that?). The boy that she’s supposed to meet for the first time at his own birthday party in two weeks, back in the real world. And Georgia didn’t even tell Danielle that she was going to Desire for a little sexcation, so explaining that she has not only met Harrison (that’s sexy ginger giant’s name y’all) but that she’s also boned him is out of the question for her. Harrison and Georgia decide very reluctantly that this one night has to be it. Sure they’re super attracted to each other and just had the best sex of their lives, but they musn’t upset their friends! Book people are always way quicker to sacrifice for the good of others than real people with real sex drives.

As these things always go Harrison and Georgia aren’t good at the whole not banging each other on vacation thing. Especially if Georgia is going to show him the tricks she learned at her strip aerobics class– what other kind of aerobics is a sex resort going to offer? Harrison adores her, he makes no qualms about it, and he defends her against some fellow resort guests who try to shame her. Possibly my favorite thing about Peachy Keen is how it handles Georgia’s past: Yes she has slept around, yes she likes sex just as much as any guy. At no point is this an issue for Harrison. He doesn’t care how many other guys she’s been with, he doesn’t care that he met her at Club Doin’ It. Harrison likes Georgia, period. In a genre that often has man whores falling for virgins or girls who have only ever had one partner, a girl who owns her sexuality was really refreshing. Liking sex doesn’t make you a slut, lets all embrace and live that truth (PSA Over).

Harrison and Georgia agree to have sex just one-last-time before he goes back to the states. Steamy hot sex, where she puts a condom on him with her mouth – a feat I’m pretty impressed by to be honest. This does nothing to get the attraction out of their systems, it is obviously only going to be a matter of time before their romance bleeds into real life. Georgia might not be all aboard with a full fledged relationship, but Harrison is. He reads her to sleep over the phone, and braids her hair, and encourages her to quit the job she hates to follow her dreams. He also enthusiastically gives her orgasms and loves her “so high school” belly button ring.

I don’t want to give away anymore plot, because I really liked the HEA in Peachy Keen. The dialog is great, true to life and it has cute text convos which are a weirdly specific catnip of mine. Georgia’s commitment phobia irked me a little and I had to subtract I Love This Points for use of the word “humped” during an otherwise really enjoyable sex scene. It gains a point for having Georgia’s grandma accuse her cousin of having resting bitch face at a family holiday. I gave Peachy Keen a solid A-. My bad habit of not reading books in order (Mary HATES me for this) means now I need to go read the other books! This was a smart, sweet read with a book boyfriend that I’d be happy to have materialize into my real life (#teamharrison), and fun sex scenes starting early on and staying strong through the end. This is one you’ll want to check out when it’s released.
