New York’s Finest
Blogging as *The Socialmedialite*
April 22
LADIES AND GENTS! I have an announcement!
You know that guy I featured on my blog a few months ago? The really, really hot Irish rugby player who plays the position of ‘hooker’ in the RLI (Rugby League International)? The one with the anger management issues, the body of a gladiator and the face of a movie star? The one with the questionable fashion choices leading me to ask whether he was the lovechild of a leprechaun and a hobbit? Ronan Fitzpatrick? Yeah, that guy. Well, I have a confession to make…

THE HERMIT
Annie Catrel, social media expert extraordinaire at Davidson & Croft Media and clandestine celebrity blogger, can make anyone shine in the court of public opinion. She is the Socialmedialite, anonymous creator of New York’s Finest and the internet’s darling. Virtual reality is Annie’s forte, but actual reality? Not so much.

THE HOOKER
Ronan Fitzpatrick, aka the best hooker the world of rugby has seen in decades, despises the media—social or otherwise. The press has spun a web of lies depicting him as rugby’s wild and reckless bad boy. Suspended from his team, Ronan has come to Manhattan to escape the drama, lay low, fly under the radar. Only, Ronan isn’t easy to overlook, and he can’t escape the notice of the Socialmedialite…

THE PLAN
When Ronan is sent to Davidson & Croft Media to reshape his public image, he never expects to cross paths with shy but beautiful Annie, nor does he expect his fierce attraction to her. He couldn’t be happier when her boss suggests pairing them together.
What lengths will Annie take to keep her virtual identity concealed? And what happens when the hooker discovers who the hermit really is?

After having my heart destroyed by Missed Connection, I went in search of something funny with a guaranteed happy ending, and I was lucky enough to find The Hooker and the Hermit. It was exactly what my brain needed after the NYE cry-fest. Penny Reid is an automatic buy for me, and I’ve got L.H. Cosway’s Hearts of Blue queued up in my to-be-read pile now, the two authors created a near perfect romance with mature characters and crazy-steamy sex scenes.

Annie works for a big time PR firm in New York City, and lives a quiet life. She’s painfully shy in person-to-person interactions, and has no in-real-life friends to speak of. Her past has also left her utterly alone in the family department as well. Annie is gorgeous girl who dresses as drab as humanly possible to not draw attention to herself, and on a good day she won’t talk to a single other human in person. But online Annie is the socialmedialite. She runs a wildly popular blog, and is funny, witty, and quick all over twitter and instagram and the like. It’s her biggest secret. One that she has no intention of ever revealing. Just like she’s content to live a solitary existence for eternity.

Her plan of lifelong hermit-tude is going along swimmingly until she features rugby player Ronan on her blog (only she doesn’t know he’s a rugby player she thinks he’s really in-shape Colin Farrell), and they begin a terse email exchange. And then he ends up as a client of her PR firm.

Ronan, having no idea that she’s the wench who has been ripping him apart online, requests that she be VERY personally involved with his PR team. VERY VERY. Annie is only human, and Ronan starts to prove hard to resist. Not only is he handsome, he’s smart and funny and caring. And packing a lot of heat in his tight spandex running shorts.

The PR firm has been tasked with reshaping Ronan’s image after a nasty break up that resulted in Ronan beating up a team mate and getting suspended from play. In reality Ronan is the farthest thing from a bad boy. Well, minus his very interesting bedroom proclivities. Our boy has just enough kink to rocket him right to the top of the F category in the pantheon of book boyfriend Fuck, Marry, Kill.

“Fine, but you’re not allowed to order vanilla.”

I gave her a dark look. “Vanilla’s not my flavor, Annie”

Shit, if only she knew.

Despite his bad break up, and the semi tumultuous state of his professional life, Ronan finds himself falling hard for Annie. He wants things to move along, he wants a real relationship with her, and he wants to let the world know that she is HIS. Annie, who is painfully shy with major trust issues, isn’t sure she can handle the scrutiny of being Ronan’s girlfriend. The paparazzi following them, and being featured on social media from the other side of the keyboard isn’t comfortable for her. Annie wants to be invisible. She isn’t sure she’s brave enough to be with Ronan.

The Hooker and the Hermit has fully realized, grown up characters. It has villains with more than one layer. It has enough sex to satisfy our perverted little hearts. And it has great banter. This book is funny guys, its charming and a little weird and an altogether joy to read. And, if you’re coming off a book written by sadists, rest assured it has an HEA that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
